1000 Things Still Went Right Today

I am recovering from surgery and the down time is giving me a chance to pause.  Hospitals and illness are good reminders of how lovely it is to live close to nature and how precious our lives are.  For the past several days, I have had to slow down and let go of doing some of my normal activities.  This is especially difficult for the avid hiker, biker, and wilderness trekker that I am.  At this moment, I am learning how to receive loving care rather than play the role of caretaker.  I have been given the opportunity, whether I wanted it or not,  to slow down and smell the trees.

The timing was not great to slow down in this way.  I have several big projects in the works and many commitments needing my attention.  Life had other plans for me though.  I was to spend time resting and being while others were busy doing.  It is hard to let go and let others do for you.  It takes patience and trust.  When our bodies need time to heal, we are mindful of how much we take for granted when things are working perfectly.  I am so grateful for supportive loved ones who have been there for me during my recovery.  I am also mindful of how even in the midst of a challenge, there are still 1,000 Things That Went Right Today and Everyday.  I think that I will take a hint from the past few days and try to make time to slow down and smell the trees more often.   I feel better already!
