Embrace Your True Nature

I have written here before about ways to find and nurture the truth within.  I think it is a topic worth repeating because so many people are on a mission to find their passion.  I feel so blessed to be at a place in life where I really know who I am and what I am about both personally and professionally.  It finally all just clicked.  Your True Nature is the embodiment of my professional work.  I am personally gratified by the work I am doing and the way I am living my life.  It wasn’t always this easy though.  I remember the years when I was climbing the corporate ladder and trying to please my parents and society at the high cost of losing my own way.  So many things were going very well and yet I continued to feel this yearning towards something different.  The passion quest can be a particularly tricky journey and while we are all hoping and trying to figure it out…the truth of it can remain illusive. One of the main barriers people face on their path towards living their true nature is fear.  Many of us avoid going out on a limb for fear of failing, fear of what others will think, even fear of being successful.  These fears keep us stuck living life the way we feel is safer.   How does one ease the fear and begin living in tune with their own true nature?  Fear can be conquered by breaking down goals into small do-able steps.  Completely overhauling one’s entire life would scare the pants AND tee-shirts off most of us.  Radical movement can prevent long-term growth while small steps can better support long term change.  To control fear, alter your perceptions about the process.  Accept the fear as normal and begin to think of failure as a step in the right direction.  Recognize that what others think may be slightly interesting and only somewhat important.  Face the fact that some people may not embrace the new you and know that most will be inspired by your courageous approach to finding and living your true nature.  Take it slow.  Think child development.  Babies cannot walk until they are ‘ready.’  You can stand them up and help them develop strength in their legs but until they are ‘ready’ internally, they will just fall down if they try to walk.  When babies finally do begin to take their first steps they fall down all the time.  There is no deterring a baby from walking once they are ready to try.  Babies do not let their fear of falling keep them from trying to learn to walk.  Your own true nature is much the same way.  As you begin to develop the new strength and skills you need to take those first steps in the right direction, be prepared to fall down and fail a lot.  This is a sign that you are on the right path.  Taking the safe way and avoiding failing and learning from your mistakes is not likely to land you a life in the lush garden of your true nature.  Dust off your pants and move forward knowing that each fall brings you closer and closer to walking confidently in the direction of your dream life.  More often than not, our fears are unnecessary impediments in moving forward.  They keep us stuck.  Think about your goals and dreams.  What fears are keeping you from living in close connection to your true nature?  Accept fear as normal and simply begin to perceive your fears as minor obstacles rather than impossible barriers to overcome.  Let me know how it goes!  If you need inspiration along the way, check out our nature-inspired journals, posters, and custom tee-shirts   for some good advice for discovering and living your true nature.  As always, my best advice to you is to live Your True Nature - Set it Free.
